Method and exercise boundaries

Active1 provides practical incident-readiness materials. It is not an emergency response service or a certification body.

Evidence and editorial recommendations

NIST SP 800-61 Revision 3 informs the general framing of incident response as part of cybersecurity risk management. The agendas, fictional scenario and worksheet on this site are editorial tools, not NIST-authored materials or endorsements. They do not prescribe a universal legal or regulatory response.

Fictional scenarios

All scenarios are hypothetical unless explicitly identified and sourced otherwise. They are designed to prompt decisions, not to recreate a named incident or claim firsthand response experience. Suggested durations are exercise design choices, not required incident deadlines.

Ordinary hosting may process request metadata. Avoid confidential information and use your approved systems for actual incidents.

Use and limitations

Materials were reviewed November 2, 2026. Validate them against current policies, service dependencies and applicable obligations before using them. An exercise can reveal a gap; completing it does not prove resilience or eliminate risk. Real incidents require authorized responders and appropriate professional advice.
